INTERMISSION MUSIC is the soundtrack to AN INTERMISSION, an artists’ film by Edwin Mingard made in collaboration with a group of young people experiencing homelessness in Stoke-On-Trent, England.
The music, like the film itself, was made collaboratively. Over a period of several weeks, the group worked with composer Tom Haines to create this soundtrack.
Some people could already play instruments, but had been forced to sell them when becoming homeless. For others, making music was a new experience. In the recording room, and out on the street, the work and energy of the group as a whole made the soundtrack what it is.
The group are defined by their talents and ambitions, not by the difficulties they had to overcome. This record, and the film itself, are a testament to what they can do.
